William Dennis was my great, great grandfather. As you can see, Bill didn't get around much. However, the house he lived in for 82 years has now been recognized (coincidentally) by the National Historical Trust. A Marblehead fisherman and former owner of the house, Samuel Tucker, received a letter at the house from George Washington commissioning him Captain of a privateer. Commodore Tucker skippered the "Boston" and the "Franklin" during the American Revolution and was credited with sinking several British ships off the coast of Marblehead. The address of this historic house is 70 Prospect Street. The house left the family upon Bill's death in 1940. Bill's grandfather was Captain Francis Hiter, arguably the foremost Marblehead sea captain of the early 1800's.
